Our District Team
Our district is committed to developing our vision and action plan for becoming a 21st Century teaching and learning organization. To guide our common work and align our system toward accomplishing this goal, we have selected a team that reflects different perspectives, diverse talents, and our commitment to creating an innovative district to support our students in cultivating their capacities for reflective learning, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication. The team is part of a larger district network of administrators, teacher leaders, teachers who will also be actively engaged in developing our vision and action plan.
Jennie Snyder, Superintendent
Jennie is passionate about learning. She sees her primary role as an educational leader as fostering learning for students and staff. She is actively engaged in social media and blogging to communicate with her district community and to further her own professional learning. Under her leadership, the district has upgraded its technology infrastructure and expanded access to digital tools such as Google Apps, Edmodo, and ZippSlip. She has also led efforts to build collaborative teams throughout the district focused on student learning, implementation of Common Core, and project-based learning. She is committed to working with her district community to transform schools to prepare all students for their future success.
Jennie has served as the Superintendent of the Piner-Olivet Union School District for the past three years. Prior to becoming a superintendent, she worked as a school principal, charter school site administrator, a middle school humanities teacher and teacher leader with the California Reading and Literature Project. She earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of California, Davis. She also holds a masters degree in history from the University of California, Irvine and a bachelors degree in psychology from the University of California, Riverside. She is the recipient of the Sonoma State University School of Education Circle of Excellence Award in Educational Leadership (2012).

Deborah Berry, English/History Teacher, Piner-Olivet Charter School
“Be The Change” is not only the POCS motto, they are the words Deborah lives by. Perhaps that is why, after 22 years of teaching, she continues to be passionate about her profession. While she can only imagine the paths her student’s lives will take, she feels confident that the tools she offers will prepare them for an unknown future in a rapidly changing world. She knows that in her brief time with them she can only touch the depth of knowledge they will need to be successful, but she can teach them to collaborate and question, to research and articulate their perspectives. She can teach them to effectively use the tools of thought with technology to produce quality work they can be proud of. She can plant the seeds of creativity and the appreciation of their environment, and she can keep her fingers crossed that they will go forth and "Be The Change" of the future.

Kaesa Enemark, Principal, Olivet Elementary Charter School
Kaesa holds a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish as well as a bilingual teaching credential from California State University Chico. She has lived abroad in Mexico and in Spain. She earned her masters in educational administration and administrative credential at Sonoma State University. She appreciates the perspective that being a parent adds to her job, where she makes a priority that her students feel safe, happy and ready to learn at school. Kaesa has found a happy home at the elementary level for the last four years as the principal of K-6 students. Her experience as a teacher of Spanish, ESL and director of student activities are years that are dear to her, and she is proud to help newly arriving students from any country. Her favorite motto: Be kind & work hard!
Jessica Hadid, English/LENS Teacher, Northwest Prep Charter School
As Northwest Prep’s English teacher, Jessica Hadid strives to cultivate in her students a deep and critical understanding of the power that language wields. She is impelled by the complex and ever-evolving nature of language, and by its inexhaustible capacity to persuade, inform, express and entertain. As a key player of Northwest Prep’s collaborative Lens team, Ms. Hadid helps design and implement core semester projects and creates curricular material in response to the varying needs of NWP students. In the classroom it is Ms. Hadid’s steadfast goal to generate in her students an inquisitive state of mind, a robust ability to self-reflect and analyze, and a true sense of efficacy and purpose in the world. She is a daily facilitator of collaborative, student directed, and meaningful classroom activities that demand cognitive rigor and higher order thinking. Over each semester these activities aide students in the generation of a cohesive array of real-world competencies, original and quality academic products, and a collective as well as a personal sense of pride.

She enjoys hiking and backpacking with her four kids; making things of many forms and functions; reading a wide array of books, blogs, and letters; and renewing her perspective through the experience of travel whenever possible. Ms. Hadid thoroughly enjoys being a part of the exceptional Northwest Prep team of educators.

Jack Potter, Principal, Jack London Elementary School
Jack Potter has served the students, teachers and parents of Jack London Elementary School as the school's principal for the past five years. He and his staff have been working to create an environment where all children are successful now and in the future. Professional development and other school resources have been focused on pedagogies that support collaboration among students and staff, improve communication and critical thinking skills, English Language Development, incorporate technology to support learning, foster creativity, and make students aware that they are citizens of a greater community.
After working in his family's business for twenty years, Jack began his teaching career in 1999. He has a bachelor's degree in English with Writing Emphasis from U.C. Davis and completed the teaching and administrative credential programs at Chapman University and Sonoma State, respectively.

Liana Zavala, 5th Grade Teacher, Jack London Elementary School
Liana Zavala has been teaching in the Piner-Olivet School District for fourteen years and currently teaches fifth grade at Jack London Elementary School. She has a passion for combining education with technology. Throughout the curriculum she and her students use Edmodo, Google Docs, Weebly and many other programs to support collaboration and communication. She has seen her students critical thinking and creativity blossom through the use of these programs. Liana is extremely generous with her knowledge of technology, and is always willing to share and help her teaching colleagues and parents. During the school's RtI rotation, she provides students in other classrooms opportunities to use Edmodo and Google Docs to enrich their learning.
